Wimbledon & Kingston

Accident recovery in Wimbledon and Kingston.

Wimbledon and Kingston sit either side of the A3 and share two characteristics: constrained town centres, and periods when event traffic changes the roads entirely.

On the ground

Written for someone dealing with this now. If it is easier to talk, the number is at the top of every page.

The Kingston gyratory

Kingston's one-way system is compact, busy and bus-heavy, and like all gyratories it punishes an approach from the wrong direction. Knowing which arm the vehicle is on is the difference between a quick collection and a long loop.

The riverside and the streets behind the town centre are narrow and pedestrianised in places, which restricts what can get in at all.

Championship fortnight

During the tennis, the roads around the grounds and through Wimbledon Village operate under temporary restrictions, suspended parking and very heavy pedestrian traffic. Church Road and the approaches become slow for the duration.

It does not stop a recovery, but it changes the route and the timing. Mention it when you call.

The A3 and Raynes Park

The A3 between the two is fast, and the junctions along it produce the more serious damage in this area. Where a vehicle cannot be rolled, a Hiab lift is the realistic option.

Around Raynes Park and New Malden the streets are suburban and access is generally straightforward — these are usually the simplest collections in SW London.

Questions

Asked here in particular.

Can you recover during Wimbledon fortnight?
Yes, though restrictions and crowds around the grounds affect the route and timing. Tell us when you call and we will plan around it.
My car is in Kingston town centre where vehicles cannot go.
Tell us exactly where. Parts of the centre are pedestrianised or access-restricted, so we may need to use a van or arrange collection from the nearest accessible point.

One call. One team. From accident to back on the road.
